Authentic Spicy Shakshuka: a step-by-step recipe

A classic brunch recipe that honestly works all day long. One of those easy one-pan recipes that are so easy & delicious, this is our take on it. Are you ready to cook an authentic and spicy Shakshuka?

  • 1 onion
  • 1 red bell pepper
  • 1 garlic cloves
  • 1 can tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground paprika
  • Freaky Sauces Saffron & Rose
  • 4 eggs


Step 1

Slice the onion and the bell pepper. Fry in a pan with some olive oil for a couple of minutes until softened. Then add thinly sliced garlic. Do not forget to season with salt & pepper.

Step 2

Make a small hole in the middle of the pan. Add the tomato paste and the spices. After a minute, add the can of tomatoes. Do not forget to clean the can with some water and add that too. Also, add a dash of Freaky Sauces Saffron & Rose at this stage.

Step 3

After the tomatoes have been cooking for 10 minutes, make 4 small holes in the pan with a spoon, and crack an egg in each hole. Put the lid on a cook for roughly 4 minutes until the eggs are cooked, but the yolks should still be runny.

Step 4

Top with more Freaky Sauces Saffron & Rose. Enjoy with some toasted sourdough bread.
