We need a touch of sweetness in our sauces in order to take them to that next super tasty level.
We believe that the industry is working with something that we call "Sugar Washing" - the idea of using alternative (non-sugar) sweeteners to position products as healthy. To name a few, honey, agave nectar, dates, and juice concentrate are used for added flavor, but also for obtaining a "No added sugar" label. In our humble opinion, the problem is that many consumers believe that the "No added sugar" label equals a healthy sweetened product. This is not always the case.
All sweeteners have an impact on your body, some more than others. To keep it simple, do not limit yourself to the product's ingredient list, remember to look at the nutritional value as well.
Transparency is key for us, and the last thing we want is to confuse you. So we decided to use added sugar in our sauces. However, we are proud that the sugar levels are considerably low, which is something that we have worked hard on.
What do you think of our sugar approach?
